The Best Food in Florence According to Someone Who's Lived There

Okay guys. This is a big one.

Last semester, I spent 4 months living in the absolute best city in the world. Okay maybe I'm biased but whatever. Florence is amazing. With so many friends studying abroad in upcoming semesters, I decided to make a guide to my favorite places in Florence. This will be throughout a few different posts, so let's start with something important - food.

Food in Italy is kinda a big deal. Whether you're looking for a sandwich, gelato or a fancy meal, I got you.

Salumeria Verdi - aka Pino's Sandwiches

This place is technically called Salumeria Verdi, but everyone just calls it Pino's. This is because Pino is the chef, owner, and face of the restaurant. He has his wife and daughter there with him everyday and all of them together are so so nice. The panino are amazing, with so many options available. Be sure to try the "Turkey Best" and if you're missing some good old Americanized Italian food and want a chicken parm, Pino makes it best.

Fo'Caccia la Notte - aka Pizza Window

One of my absolute favorite places for Pizza in Florence, it's technically called Fo'Caccia la Notte. This place has amazing pizza for super cheap. It's actually right across the street from Pino's. This place is open very late and is perfect for lunch, dinner, or drunk food. The pizza with sausage and onions is to die for. Pictured below is the plain cheese pizza, which I became obsessed with after I realized the sauce used on it is unbelievable.

Trattoria Da Garibardi

Right near the central market, there is a restaurant with the most amazing pasta in truffle sauce that I've ever tasted in my life. Honestly pretty high up there for the best meals I had while in Florence. I could have eaten 4 plates of it if I could. 10000% I recommend this place.

Gelateria La Carraia

I can't write a post about food in Florence without mentioning my favorite gelato shop. This place has 2 locations in Flo, one on each side of the river. The flavor selection is huge, and each one is better than the last. The man that works at the center location was such a happy shining face to see.

Amalo Gelato E Passione

Another gelato superstar: Amalo Gelato E Passione. This place is SO GOOD. In addition to gelato, this place serves up waffles, crepes, fruit cups, and cupcakes. Its hard not to become obsessed. They also put a little waffle circle in each cup or cone, so it's sure to be Insta-worthy.

There are so many more places I could list off, but to keep it short I'll leave you at that, but feel free to always reach out for more suggestions!
xoxo, Julia
